Attention: Dog owners facing issues with their dogs attacking chickens and other livestock

From Fowl Play to Peaceful Coexistence: Effective Strategies to Stop Your Dog from Attacking Chickens and Livestock

Are you tired of all the chaos that ensues when your beloved furry friend goes on a chicken-chasing frenzy? Do you dread the thought of them wreaking havoc on your precious livestock? Or how about that knock on the door if your dog attacks your neighbors chickens or livestock.

Living harmoniously with both dogs and livestock can be a challenging task. With their natural instincts and prey drive, dogs may occasionally display aggressive behavior towards chickens and other livestock animals. However, it is possible to bridge the gap between fowl play and peaceful coexistence.

You CAN do this.

    Backyard Chickens? Dogs?

In this course, we bust the most common training myths out there and dive deep into the world of real dog behavior and equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to train your dog to coexist peacefully with your feathered friends & other livestock. No more restless nights, no more ruined fences or maimed livestock, and definitely no more stress!

"But I've trained my dog to sit and stay, but I don't know how to stop him charging our chickens?! Help!"
Through implementing the teachings in this workshop, you will learn how to STOP some serious unwanted behaviors, as well as how to proactively train your dog AND proof them for all the crazy stuff life likes to throw at you. Read on:

Here's something most trainers won't tell you: Obedience training will not eliminate unwanted behaviors. In fact, obedience training and behavior modification training are two separate aspects of training that are both needed to have a happy existance with your dog.

Understanding the root causes of dog aggression towards livestock is essential in effectively addressing and preventing such behavior. Dogs are naturally predatory animals with instincts that can sometimes be triggered by the presence of chickens and other livestock. It is important to remember that dogs are not inherently malicious; rather, their behavior is often driven by a combination of factors. One common cause of dog aggression towards livestock is a lack of proper training (both obedience and behavior mod) and exposure/repetition. Dogs that have not been exposed to or trained around farm animals may perceive them as unfamiliar or prey-like, leading to potentially harmful interactions. Additionally, breeds with a strong prey drive, such as hunting or herding breeds, may be more prone to exhibiting aggression towards livestock. Another factor that can contribute to dog aggression is territorial behavior. Dogs may view their home or surroundings as their territory and react defensively when other animals, such as chickens, encroach upon it. This territorial instinct, combined with the prey drive, can result in the dog attacking livestock to protect what they perceive as their space.

But what if my dog attacks our chickens due to fear or anxiety?

Fear and anxiety (from a lack of boundaries and credibility of the handler/owner) can also play a role in aggression towards livestock. Regardless of the cause we can modify the unwanted behavior while simultaneously building confidence in the dog. Dogs that are fearful or anxious may view the presence of livestock as a threat and resort to aggressive behavior as a way to cope or defend themselves. It is important to identify and address the underlying causes of fear or anxiety in dogs to prevent aggressive behavior towards livestock. Lastly, improper management and supervision can contribute to dog aggression towards livestock.

You've probably spent lots of time and money installing fences, electric fences, etc to protect your chickens and livestock from predators such as racoons, skunk, etc. Racoons are one thing, but wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to worry about your pet dog?!

It goes without saying that failing to provide adequate containment systems, such as secure fences or enclosures, can allow any animal to easily access livestock, increasing the likelihood of unwanted and bloody encounters. Lack of supervision and control can also lead to opportunities for the dog to engage in predatory behavior towards livestock. Understanding these root causes of dog aggression towards livestock is crucial in developing effective strategies to prevent and address such behavior. By addressing training and socialization needs, managing territory and fear-related issues, and implementing proper containment and supervision, dog owners can work towards fostering peaceful coexistence between their dogs and livestock

    Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Jeff Gellman, the guy with the hair that works with those insane dogs. I got my start in dog training 20ish years ago when I owned a wildly out of control dog myself. His name was Max, and he was large, powerful and had a lot of bad behaviors. He was making my life a living hell, and it felt like nobody could help me at all. That was until I finally met THE ONE trainer who looked me dead in the eye and said “you can tell your dog “no”, Jeff.”

And that was the day everything changed. I was able to stop all of my dog’s horrific behaviors rather quickly, and actually train him up to be one of the coolest dogs I’ve ever owned. He became my sidekick in mountain climbing, biking, and even my demo dog when I created a dog training business of my own (hello Solid K9 Training.) Max was the first “why” behind everything I do today.

I currently own and operate an exclusive, boutique style dog training center in Bradenton, Florida. I rehab and train dogs from all around the country and even traveled for 5 years holding dog training seminars around the world. When I say I have worked with the worst of the worst behavioral cases, I truly mean it. I own a highly successful virtual dog training company where I can put my passion into video format to help even MORE people who can’t reach me geographically.

I also held dog training seminars around the world. Throughout my career, I have worked with tens of thousands of dogs and humans, and I know firsthand how lack of training can affect the quality of life for both ends of the leash. Between my free social media content, virtual one-on-one work, seminars, and in-person training, I have kept countless dogs in their homes who were on their last chance.

I have always wanted to find a way to help EVEN more families and their dogs. There is such a need for dog training that works, and so I created this course. My Green to Graduate series addresses one of the most common pain points I see people struggling with- lack of training overall! So many folks are struggling to get their dogs to do the basics, so I wanted to create courses that truly covers it all.

FAQ - Am I in the right place? Can you really help me? etc.

I'm sure you've got questions. Here are the answers to many of the most common questions we get asked.

What if my dog is to stubborn to train?

A: EVERY dog of any breed can be trained. It just takes the proper methodology and leadership

My dog doesn't listen to me

A: Your dog will learn to take direction if you follow the protocols in the video series.

What if my dog isn't food motivated?

A: You do not have to use food for this training. It teaches how to motivate dogs without food, but we do include a "how to build food drive" video for free!

What age does my dog need to be for this?

A: Dogs 16 weeks and older can benefit from this training, In fact, I recommend you start them out with training sooner rather than later.

What if my dog has no prior training?

A: Your dog can be totally "green" with zero leash skills and still make incredible progress with this course. Off-leash freedom IS within reach.

How long will I have access to the course?

A: You'll have lifetime access to the course. Once you purchase it, it's yours! Due to the digital nature of the course there are no refunds.

Will my dog be able to go to crowded places / events with me?

A: Your dog's capabilities lie in the work you put in. Dog training is a never-ending process and should be kept up with/improved upon throughout the life of the dog. The places you are able to take your dog depend entirely on how much effort you wish to put into training.

Do I have to use a prong collar & remote collar?

A: I am a huge advocate for remote collar training as it allows the safest and most reliable form of off leash communication with your dog. If you want to learn how we achieve off leash training, we do recommend both prong and E collars for this course.

What if my dog's breed is not supposed to heel?

A: EVERY dog of any breed can learn to walk nicely on a leash. It just takes the proper training and leadership

How quickly can I see results

A: Watch the videos and practice for an hour. You will see immediate results. Consistency and structure are the key to maintaining those results.

I feel like this guy saves lives. I had a crazy black lab who lived in the woods on his own for 18 months. I 'rescued' him and gave him a good life. He pulled me all over. 100lbs strong dog. I took him to TWO obedience schools and no improvement. Jeff taught me how to use a prong collar. Amazing, immediate change. He passed away a few weeks ago, his final years were amazing. I was so proud to walk him. It was safe to go out with him. Thank you Jeff. Without your help he would have pulled me down in traffic, or i would have put him down because he was crazy. He lived another 8 years, but they were good years, with your guidance.

I've had compliments from my neighbors about how much my dog has changed since implementing the skills I follow through Solid K9 Training. The skills you can learn from JUST the video content is amazing. If you just take the content and do basic drills with the crate, thresholds, and basic 180 maneuver, you will see a change in behavior in minutes. I took a nervous, anxious dog, and now he is more confident and listens better with all the structure I've put in place. What Jeff teaches doesn't just help the dog, it helps the owners understand and implement it every day without a trainer by your side. Thank you for all the content!
